Spring/Weather

LITERACY

We did the "Exploding Milk" experiment to make a rainbow.

Made a lion and a lamb mask. These masks were stapled back to back to make one flip mask.

.
Our pocket chart poetry for spring. Poem can be sung to "12 Days of Christmas". Get words to poem here.

We have caterpillars growing in our science center.

2 girls playing school and "weather person".

We made umbrella mobiles. Paint a circle the color of choice. When dry cut in half. Make slits in each half so the can fit together (making it 3-d). Punch 4 holes in each corner of umbrella and attach hanging raindrops.

We made kites and went outside to fly them. It was a perfect windy day for kite flying!. Decorate a paper plate, fold in half, pattern crepe paper streamers inside and add string.

We used a small cup to scoop out some rainbow goldfish . We estimated how many total were in the cup and how many of each color. Then we sorted them and determined which color was the most and least, then counted the total number of goldfish to see if our estimation was correct. This is a picture of a student who decided instead of counting she should put the goldfish in columns to determine which color was the most and least.

We made rain cycle bracelets - white bead stands for clouds, light blue for rain, green for trees and grass, dark blue for puddles, yellow for the sun, and clear for evaporation/condensation.

Our rainbow fish using chalk and a recycled CD.

I love this. She is showing me her drawing which depicts the books we have been reading in class. At the top are clouds for "Little Cloud" and "It Looked Like Spilt Milk", under that is a fish for "Rainbow Fish", and at the bottom is a caterpillar for "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

We are growing grass seeds. The signs on the window say, "A seed needs dirt, a seed needs water, a seed needs air, and a seed needs sun."

We are making a "Season Tree." Below is the completed tree book.

Two sides of the book showing fall and winter.

The other two sides showing spring and summer. To get the words and instructions to make this season tree book click here.

We used the bottom of coke bottles to paint the flower petals, then when dry added the details. Dip the bottom of coke bottles into paint and press onto construction paper.

We estimated the number of plastic insects inside the cup.

I painted the bottom of their feet green and pressed them on the construction paper to make the leaves and then the children colored a paper muffin holder to make the petals of a flower.
